You know, if you look at the Code Geass world in general and take into account the fact that Lelouch could command the entire Collective Unconscious of Humanity, what was essentially God or the main pantheon of Gods in that world, it would actually make sense as to why he seemed to have such terrible luck. The Universe, or at the very least God or the Gods, was/were absolutely helpless against Lelouch if he managed to figure out how to command it to obey him. It was probably terrified and that's why Lelouch was a Cosmic Plaything all throughout the series. God/The Gods did everything it/they could to make Lelouch want to die so it/they would no longer have to deal with such a large threat to its/their own power.
Everything tragic that happened to Lelouch still sucks, but in this context it actually makes some sense as to why his luck absolutely sucked, even by the standards of the Code Geass world.
I loved that moment, when he ordered her not to die. It said a lot about his personality, and how much power can consume him, to a point when he, even if in desperation, thinks he can defeat death. And i loved that It almost worked for a moment. She really did not had to die... It was made just to depress him, and i think to show us that part of his characther - That no matter how strong he becomes, no matter how smart he is, and how much power he has, he can never change death. And he realized it. This scene is one of the reasons i think he actually dies in the end. One of my favorite moments in the series (though there is a lot of them)
But still the sadest for me was Euphy's death. He knew he screw up so bad with this... It was another favorite moment of mine, just for the sadness of it. And it sucks that her death had to happen.
When Lulu crys a puppy dies...
I like it too, when Anime guys cry, because they usually have hell of a reason to. And most girls in anime cry for all sorts of shit. :/
I don't think power consumed him when Lelouch was ordering Shirley not to die. There was no way he was capable of the same level of complex thinking he normally is when he was consumed with desperation and grief. He was doing the only thing he could think of to do to save her life and since there was no medical supplies nearby he attempted to use his Geass to save her. It was less believing that he could beat death and more desperation to save a dear friend of his. At least that's what I think.
Anime girls cry at the drop of a hat, so when the boys do it it feels more significant. Shirley's death was sad to me, but Euphie's death pissed me off because who the heck says "Kill all the Japanese" as the first thing to come to their mind? Most people's first statements would be stuff like "Make me some cupcakes" or even "hand over the throne to me" I mean "Kill all the Japanese" is pretty freaking specific and an utterly stupid thing for someone as smart as Lelouch to say.
Well When you say it that way... it was a bit lame. But he had no way knowing that Geass could do that on its own. It suckes - the dude had one moment to be calm and joke arond, without the need to think eveythng thru... and look where that got him The whole idea of peace made him careless. But her death was needed, and he had to do it, so the story can progress the way ti did, whith him and Suzaku at eachothers thoughts. And if Lulu HAD to kill Euphy in the story, i am happy that it happend like this, and not because he just thought she was on his way. Yeah, saying something that stupid was out of character, but in any other way would be too - Euphy gone evil, and ooc - Lulu gone evil and kill a good person, for no reason which is also Ooc And that was the least ooc way they could do it. It suked that it happened, but the very happy ending at that point was not an option. Euphy died to give us all the epic ending we got. Bless her memory
The sad part for me came later when he tol C.C. That she tried to dissobey the order of the geass, because she was just that good. Damn you, Lulu, idiot! You should have told her to run away naked thru the croud or something! You probably hate yourself for that, don't ya? *Hits Lulu in the had with a heavy object*
Other than that i thought that some characters were there just to make Lulu's life sad, either with makeing it complete hell, or just dying. Like Sirley, or Rolo, they were there just to be offed by the anime creators. Why did those two had to die at all?
You think this was depressing? I went in to Grave of the Fireflies thinking it was a kids movie. THEN after I watched it I found out it was based on a book that a man wrote about himself and his little sister, so it's BASED ON A TRUE STORY. That was the most depressing movie I have ever seen in my entire life, and I saw Titanic, My Girl, and all those depressing Disney movies. Look it up, it's good but sooooo freaking sad.
i heard it was good, but when i saw the cover, i knew it wasnt for me. and i dont know for sure, but im pretty sure code geass is up there on my list of sad shows. but more than anything it just makes me mad! lulu and suzaku can be so stupid sometimes! why can't they just go back to the way they once were! >~<,
I loved Suzaku in season one, but in R2......GRRRRRR. And it's all Lulu's fault! Seriously? "Kill all the Japanese" is the first example of a command he could think of? Not something simple like "make me cookies" or something silly, like "Do an Irish jig"?
omg your in my mind!!!0.0 that's exactly what I said! In the manga when he's testing out his new power, he asks a maid to feed him a strawberry! Simple! Killing the japanese was the first thing that came to mind! what's WRONG with him!? It just went downhill for Suzaku after that. Poor guy. They were so happy together (Ufie and Suzaku). And then in R2 he is like bleh! How could he do that to Lelouch at the beginning! I know he was mad, but that's is Lulu's worst nightmare! P.S.~ sorry to ramble but it's so nice to finally have someone who understands ^_^
No, please ramble! FINALLY! Some one who understands! Seriously, if it weren't for Lulu's idiocy everything would have been hunky dory! Suzaku wouldn't have gone emo and shot him, Lulu wouldn't have had to kill his sister, thousands of lives would have been saved, Nunally would still be with him, and the entire second half of the war wouldn't have happened! The only good thing that Lelouch did was let Xingke marry the empress, and even then, if there was no war going on, the Britanians wouldn't have been trying to make an alliance with China and she probably could have married him anyway!
i know! what i hate most is that we dont know what Lulu's thinking. Whats he really trying to accomplish? Does he really care? i like to think he cared about Rolo, who was, btw, the best part of R2. I cried for him, but we'll tlk about him later. Anyway, with Lulu and throughout this show there were so many unanswered questions! Then we get to the end and I'm like "yea closure!" then I go on youtube and somebody posted about him maybe not being dead!!!!!! I was so mad! Is it true? Well now I dont know!!!! GRRRR! btw did you see my plushies? I know they're not much, but they're the first ones I made.
The creators/writers have stated:YES. HE IS DEAD. GET OVER IT. I wasn't really a big fan of Rolo becuase 1. my friend kept tellin me how awesome he was and I just didn't see it. Ithink she liked him because he was cutesy and had a sort of "thing"(obsession) with Lelouch and she's a yaoi fangirl who hated Suzaku from the begining. Rolo kind of bugged me, I hated him when he killed Shirley just for mentioning possibly helping Lelouch find his beloved sister, and my friend ruined his death for me and kind of blew it out of proportion so I was kinda sad, but I didn't cry or anything.
